Job Description

Project Manager – Commercial HVAC
BlueHat Mechanical · Apex / Greater Raleigh, NC · Full-time

Company Overview
BlueHat Mechanical delivers commercial HVAC service, maintenance and installation across the Triangle, using technology, great technicians and support staff, and superior record keeping. That adds up to a great customer experience for larger customers who need help managing their operating costs, equipment and service histories.

We are a well-managed, growing local company looking for people who want a career, not a job. We hire experienced team players who share our core values: Teamwork, Hustle, Professionalism, Curiosity, and Taking Ownership.

Job Summary
The Project Manager owns our commercial HVAC projects from sold to closed out. You'll carry 10–20 jobs at once, from equipment replacements to larger conversions and retrofits. That means designing the right solution, specifying and selecting equipment, leading field teams, solving problems on site, and delivering every job safely, on time and at the margin we sold it for.

You'll work side by side with our Project Coordinator, who handles purchasing, POs, receiving and scheduling logistics. That leaves you to focus on the engineering, the field and the customer.

Successful candidate will:

• ...be a fit for our culture and core values (Right Person)
• ...put safety first on every site
• ...design and engineer solutions: load and equipment selection, system layout, and scope that holds up in the field
• ...specify equipment and materials and hand clean, complete orders to our Project Coordinator
• ...run 10–20 active projects at once, keeping each one moving and every customer informed
• ...lead and hold accountable Team Leads, technicians, helpers and subcontractors
• ...solve field problems quickly, whether it's a unit that doesn't fit, conditions that don't match the drawings, or a controls issue at startup
• ...own each job's budget and gross profit, and identify, price and document change orders as they happen
• ...manage submittals, permits, inspections, startup and closeout
• ...review job progress, budgeted vs. actual hours, and cost weekly with leadership, and raise issues early

How We Work
We run the business on real data. Our PMs work from live job cost, schedules, equipment histories and project pipelines, not spreadsheets and memory. Here, that's a head start, not extra paperwork:

• You'll use modern digital tools every day to plan, document and communicate, from the office, the truck or the roof.
• We build and improve our own systems constantly. We want someone who will use them hard, spot what's missing, and help us make them better.
• If you've been the person on your last team who figured out the new software first and showed everyone else, you'll fit right in.
• This position is located in our office in Apex and will involve extensive field work (not work from home)

• 8+ years in commercial HVAC/R, including hands-on field experience (service, install or foreman) and time managing multiple projects at once

• Comfortable with building automation and controls, including troubleshooting and startup
